Who are we? We're a concerned, creative, amazing group of MSU students and more. We are an independent group cosponsored by the Women's Center, WMGS department, Health Promotions, and SPECTRUMS. We are causing a scene to create a scene. We are Femme Vitales.

Zine: Submit Yrself to Us

Feminists, writers, activists, and revolutionaries, we're calling you for submissions!

Because we want to involve as many people as possible in the production of our feminist zine, we will be accepting submissions of all sorts until March 2011.  All submissions may be sent to Femvolution.msu@gmail.com in a format that allows for editing.  We will let you know if your submission has been accepted and if so, what changes (if any) we would like to see made.
In an effort to raise feminist consciousness on campus, we are self-publishing a feminist-themed zine, which draws upon the resources and interests of Montclair State University’s diverse student population as well as our surrounding community organizations. One immediate goal of the zine is to accumulate students who already identify as feminists, and give them a tangible outlet to voice concerns and become a political presence through the creative, open outlet that the nature of zine production provides; our primary goal, however, is to reach those who are either apathetic or hostile towards the feminist movement in a fun, accessible format that at once makes feminist activism realistic and exciting. We will approach an apprehensive audience with a view of feminism that is specifically relevant to New Jersey college students.
Our zine's debut issue will coincide with another big event we're excited for: The FEMME Festival.

Contributor Guidelines
  • In what ways is/n't MSU a feminist utopia?  What about New Jersey?  Do any other environmental factors in your life relate to your feminist experience?
  • What was your feminist "click" moment?
  • Has anything in pop culture media struck you as especially sexist or offensive in the past month or so?  This could be anything from Cosmo covers, to "Jersey Shore" antics, to your own favorite t.v. show or radio channel.
  • Have you seen/heard/read any feminist-inspired films/music/books lately?  We are accepting written reviews or leads on any femme-media you've come across.
  • What role has activism--specifically of a feminist-nature--directly or indirectly played a role in your own life?
  • We are writing our own Femme-Friendly version to combat the most recent, utterly dismal Rolling Stone "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" countdown (according to which, literally 99% of the 'greatest guitarists' are male); so which women do you think deserve to be on our list?
  • We are also open to any form of non-fiction writing you have on the subject of feminism; if you think you have a piece that fits within our mission, e-mail Liouxsie with your pitch, and we'll try to work with you.

and what you're interested in doing with the zine.  We're always
