Who are we? We're a concerned, creative, amazing group of MSU students and more. We are an independent group cosponsored by the Women's Center, WMGS department, Health Promotions, and SPECTRUMS. We are causing a scene to create a scene. We are Femme Vitales.

Volunteers, We're Calling You!

We're always taking more Femme Vitales for our various projects.  We're always growing and evolving.  And we totally want you to join the Femvolution.  All of our volunteers will have an opportunity to selectively work in the fields that they are interested in, and we'll work to keep this fun and exciting for all our Femme Vitales.  We're accepting a wide range of volunteers with an even wider range of availabilities and interests, so we can totally work with you and you schedule/passions.  Fe-mail us to find out how you can become a Femme Vitale!

Volunteer Updates

   Our first official initiative for fundraising is confirmed for Monday, December 13.  We'll be holding a bake sale outside University Hall Rm. 1010, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Because we can only do one bake sale per semester at this location, we're making this a BIG event.
   On one table, we will sell our Girlie Goodie bags, pastie pastries (cupcakes!), and kinky candy.  On another, we will host our Pay-Scale Bake-Sale, with a wheel to determine what "gender/orientation/race" the buyer is.  We will set up donation jars on the table along with palm cards and information on Femvolution.
   In order to get this Bake Sale moving, we'll need some help!  And in order to help, send an e-mail to Liouxsie, or contact us through our Facebook group page, and let us know what you're interested in.  You can volunteer by doing any of the following:
  • Attend the Craft n' Conception party either on Tuesday, December 7 from 12:30-2 or Wednesday, December 8 from 7:30-9 to do some preparation for the tables:
    • We'd love some help constructing a wheel for the Pay-Scale Bake-Sale!  Customers will spin the wheel to determine what sex/orientation/race they are, and what they'll pay based on this scale.  We'll be doing some research and making something pretty and shiny.  Get on board if this is your scene.
    • In order to bring curious college kids to the tables, first we need to get them curious; interested in PR?  What about PPR (Paper-Public-Relations)?  We require volunteers to assist with decorating banners and fliers to increase traffic to our little nook.
    • For the date of the Bake Sale(s), we'll have volunteers wearing patches that say something along the lines of "Follow me to pastries!"; we'll be silk-screening onto patches during our C n' C parties.
  • On Monday, December 13, we'll need volunteers physically at the Bake Sale(s) to make it as awesome-as-can-be.
    • Like money?  Can you count?  Perfect: we could use outstanding citizens such as yourself to handle monetary transactions... and keep an eye on the table against any hungry, broke college students;
    • Aside from the traditional-yet-kinky table of chocolate Aspirins, pastie pastries, and chocolate genitalia, we'll need a volunteer or two to monitor the Pay-Scale Bake-Sale.  Because it's more interactive with customers, we need someone to make sure it runs smoothly: all this means is instructing the customer to spin the wheel to determine, based on the current American pay-scale, what they need to hand over to enjoy one of our delicious, feminist baked goods.
    • For volunteers interested in free merch of their own, and exploring PR, we're taking Mobile Femme volunteers to wear patches that say something along the lines of: "Follow me to pastries!" and bring in people to the table.
  • And of course, no bake sale would be complete without baked goods.  Volunteers to bake cupcakes and brownies will be provided the baking mix, and thanked generously.  Liouxsie's kitchen is the size of your cat's litter box (sorry for the picture) and we need to spread out the baking to interested Femmes.  We won't scold you if you take a free pastry for yourself, but please save some for the sale!  We've intentionally scheduled for Monday afternoon, so volunteers can bake Sunday-day.
